become a super storm. leading us off is our meteorologist wyatt everhart. large powerful hurricane, bottom line, now a category two storm. that update coming up as we speak from the national hurricane center. you see the distance. we take it from jacksonville, florida, to the lesser antilles. hurricane sandy packing winds of 105 miles an hour. how over the bahamas. she has cleared the mountain. some additional strengthening not out of the question. this is still a large powerful storm and all maryland del projections have trended this thing further west manying -- meaning the impacts could be felt. where in this swath the storm will come in is a key factor.

if it's close are to virginia, a much bigger impact. if she tracks further north, jobs up toward long island, higher impacts for new england. either way, we'll sew a lot of wind, a lot of rain. we have more coming up. the city of baltimore has taken steps. there are several things you can do. first, they say make sure you have a battery powered radio, flashlights and enough water to last three days. make sure to clear debris from your neighborhood storm drains. sandy is already makes its mark on florida. tropical storm warnings have been issued. we'll take you live to delray beach and check in with our sister station for the latest. he had come to visit family

gladden died. police say gladden was here to visit family and he and relative had just gotten out of their car when they were ambushed. >> they were approached by suspects who had exited a dark colored is is -- sedan. coupled with the fact that this victim has served our country and tried it make the united states better. >> reporter: police doesn't know if gladden knew his killer or was a mistaken case of -- case of mistaken identity. >> trying to find witnesses, going door to door. we also conducted surveillance in the area. this is a tragic incident. this person is a member of the

her heartbroken grandmother could not hold back. >> light him on fire. send himell in a blaze of glory. >> reporter: some of sigg's family members showed up but were turned away. the 10-year-old vanished while walking to school on october 5th. her dismembered body was found five days later. sigg lived a half mile from her school and close to the reservoir where he is also accused of attacking a jogger five months ago. authorities say they have plenty of dna evidence. they're also looking at this youtube clip which show has boy who looks like sigg wearing a cross similar to the one found at the crime scene eye remember him wearing a cross but never put the two together. >> reporter: he was studying

moore chew wary science at this college f convicted the death penalty is in the an option because he's and 18. it was shut down near elk ridge. three men died in the crash. temperature' -- they're still trying to piece together how this happened. >> reporter: a chef vi impala collided with a tractor-trailer. the three men traveling in the impala were killed. the names have yet to be released but two men aper to be in their 20s and the other in his three -- 30s, all three headed to prince george's county to work. the tractor-trailer was heading southbound. it's when the trucker was turning left off route one when

on his best behavior. >>eporter: we uncovered hundreds of local school buses speeding but there could be hundreds more because a lack of oversight means drivers don't have to report we they get caught on camera. our investigation looks specifically at drivers who work for baltimore city and baltimore county public schools. they racked up more than 200 speeding and red light camera violations just like the ones you see here but those districts also pay more than 300 contractors. it's just not in their contracts. >> why don't you require that? >> it's something i will be looking into moving forward. >> i think it's a benefit to us that you notified us and we will use it to our benefit as well as the citizens of baltimore to make sure everyone is safe and

as a pastor, my support for question 6 is rooted in my belief that the government should treat everyone equally. i would not want someone denying my rights based upon their religious views, therefore i should not deny others based upon mine. it's about fairness. this l does not force any church to perform a same sex marriage if it's against their beliefs. and that's what this is about. protecting religious freedom and protecting all marylanders equally under the law. join me in voting for question 6.

all right. time to get into it and talk about sandy as we go from sunday into tuesday. we still have plenty of time to prepare for the storm. sandy is a power house, category two hurricane, churning out here north of cuba right over the bahamas, a well defined center of circulation and tremendous amount of moisture. winds gusting closer to 125 miles an hour. lows minimal pressure. many have sandy deepening as she goes extra tropical or becomes a cooler core system, a nor'easter. that powerful air may in the weaken much as it changes over. in fact, it may strengthen some as sandy moves into the mid-atlantic states. we'll come back to sandy. you can see the weather crystal clear, just some hazy

conditions. we had that all day dealing with the fog and the mist. i think we'll be back into this weather scenario tomorrow. so maybe not a lot of sunshine. 67 now at the airport. winds are from the east. you can see that misty scenario that we had today, the low almost mid-level fog keeping the sun out of the sky. we're in the low to 60s, to upper 60s with that easterly breeze persist tnt as we speak. the setup is basically a quiet one forks again, another 24 to i'd say 60 hours. the next two days -- watch what happens. we have a cool front. sandy will be marching out of the south approaching central

carolina. this shows the cold blast. a big shot of colder air coming in that will help ramp up the winds and help catch sandy. there his different tracks for more on the potential tracks. let's head over to mike mass co. >> it's been an interesting afternoon, been watching how sandy maintains intensity. elevation levels getting up to 1,000 feet. it is maintaining tend is look better on our satellite presentation. i also want you to see how large this storm has become, just about 1,000 miles in width. what to take away it's not all about landfall with the storm. there's a couple of track san rows to share, been working on this for most of the afternoon. i noticed a couple of the tracks, a few we've been honing in on. track one, which is referred to as we've been calling the

european model. this has been consistent. if this happens, if this runs through baltimore, central maryland, winds 50 miles an hour, could see gusts up to 65 miles an hour. five to eight inches of rain, coastal flooding. this will be a bad situation for the bay and snow possible with this storm. there is a second track scenario that could unfold. that would take it more toward the north, winds at 30 miles an hour, gusting to 40. we're not going to miss this storm. it as all about where the storm comes in and the effects. 5:30 we'll get a new model run and we'll share the details, so stick around. back to you at the weather wall. >> looking at the different potential tracks. the storm potential will be there for a long duration event.

a robber breaks into a cell phone floor. he dropped in the houston store through a hole in the roof and loaded up 60 smartphones. his exit was as smooth because of the extra weight but he managed to escape but hasn't been caught yet. a homeless man is being called a hero after helping a police officer. chucky alexander stepped in, body slammed the attacker. alexander said will was a time he wouldn't have gotten involved but this time he didn't hesitate. the man is facing assault charges. a deer found itself in trouble in alabama. it crashed through a double pane window and ended up in the break room. the employees locked him inside.
